Blair High School - Home of the Blair Bears

Blair High School

Welcome to Blair High School, home of the Blair Bears! Blair High School serves students in grades 9–12 as part of the Blair Community Schools district. The current high school building, located at 440 North 10th Street, was constructed in 1970 and spans approximately 140,000 square feet on 75 acres, serving around 690 to 700 students. The school’s colors are purple and white, and its athletic teams are known as the Bears, competing in the Eastern Midlands Conference.

Blair’s commitment to secondary education dates back to the 19th century. Public high school classes began in 1869, initially held in a repurposed hardware store, followed by the construction of a dedicated school building. In 1899, a new high school was built in the Richardsonian Romanesque style and designed by architect John Latenser Sr. This historic building was later added to the National Register of Historic Places and has since been repurposed for apartments, offices, and community use.

Over the years, Blair High School has continued to grow and adapt to meet the needs of students and the community. In 2021, significant renovations were completed in the industrial technology areas, adding modern labs for welding, automotive, robotics, and design to support career and technical education.

Today, Blair High School blends a long tradition of academic and extracurricular excellence with facilities and programs designed to prepare students for success after graduation.
